I work in a low-income area of New York. I am a computer teacher in an elementary school. I have third, fourth, and fifth grades. .Most of the students live in low income housing. Their families are poor but hardworking. Most have no computers and enjoy working on the computers in school.
The problem is we need a replacement lamp for our projector. The lamp is over $200 and we haven't the funds to replace it. The projector is used in conjunction with our white interactive board, which also cannot be used without a projector. We would like to start a project using Google earth.com. This project would really be improved if I could model the lesson using the projector and Smartboard. The students are blogging with schools around the world. We plan to use the Google satellite to learn more about the geography of these places.
It would be great if we could get a replacement bulb to repair our projector. The students will have the benefit of their work being modeled. It would improve the instruction greatly.
Just think you can help my students understand the technology being used in the lab and geography. They will be given the opportunity to see their lesson instead of just being told the steps. You will help to meet the needs of special needs children.
