Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach sixth grade science and two elective classes in an innercity K-8 school where 95% of the students receive free breakfast, lunch, and afterschool snack.

We have recently received a new playground on our school grounds. The students have never had a playground here or in the neighborhood. They are very excited. However, they don't have equipment to take outside with them. With the two electives that I am teaching, I will be able to take the students outside two to three times a week (since they don't have gym time).

With your generous donation my students would be able to have balls and other games to take outside with us. They have just put the nets on the six basketball hoops. We used to play basketball on dirt with just one rim. They are really eager to play basketball on the new court. We awaiting the installation of a soccer field. Many of my students love to play soccer, but have never played on a real field. The goals should arrive by the end of October.

You can make it possible for my students to get outside and enjoy playing on our new school playground. I took students outside the other day and just sat back and watched the smiles and laughing on everyone face. It was truly a wonderful experience. Please help me to provide them with added physical activity and enjoyment.
