Students in our school district have excellent opportunities at the middle school level to learn to play stringed instruments. This year we are opening a high school orchestra program to offer continued string education in our community.
My students come from a low-income community, but have a drive to learn music and be a part of our local music programs.
Our administration is so supportive of the arts (and music in particular), but we still have holes in funding in the area of string education. Since we are beginning a new course, there are many students who do not currently own their own instruments, so we hope to be able to provide violas, cellos, and double basses for students to borrow.
My Project
We currently have two students desiring to learn to play viola in our orchestra, but the school does not have any to lend. Many families in our community do not have the extra funds needed to rent or buy a viola for their child. By providing our school with this viola, we will continue to allow students from all backgrounds a chance to take part in a music class.
Please help us continue our district music education program in string education.
We are so excited to have instruments for all of our students this year, and hope that you will donate to support the arts in our community!
