My Students

My third grade students are a busy and lively bunch who come from diverse backgrounds and families, but are so eager to learn and always want to know what exciting things I have planned each day.

Our school is a lower-middle class school that serves students of all demographics.

We are located in a small suburb in a very large city that has everything from million dollar homes to people living in tents under bridges. We have students from several different countries and cultural groups in our school as well.

My Project

After 17 years in kindergarten I will be teaching third grade. That means that my classroom library will have to be rebuilt from scratch. You can help me build up my library with your donations to my project. I need a diverse collection of books to reach all of my students.

Having a wide variety of high interest, culturally diverse books will allow all of my students to feel validated and included.

There is nothing more wonderful than a child opening a book to find a character that looks, thinks, or acts like them. Making connections to literature will make them WANT to read.
