This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
If you were to walk into our classroom, you would see furniture that was built by the woodshop students from our school district in the 80's. The current bookshelves have been well loved and sport an orange laminate top that looks like they traveled in a time machine from the 80's. They have served their purpose, and my students deserve to have furniture that won't give them a splinter when they rub against it.
As their teacher, I want to be able to give them an environment that not only looks nice, but give them a room they can be proud of by having new bookshelves to store their books and materials.
My students are some of the most appreciative and caring individuals, and don't care that the furniture we use every single day is old and has carvings from past students and shelves that are falling off. But as a teacher I want to be able to give them something better.
