My Project
My students are some of the most hardworking 5th graders you will meet. They love thier reading groups and we talk daily about our reading strategies. I do struggle with giving my students examples of intersting non-fiction stories. They love science and social studius as most kids do and I would love to give them relevant reading materials for their age group.
Scholastic magazines are geared towards kids and I have found it is the most engaging way to teach students non-ficiton reading skills, and they love reading them!
It is the most effective way to boost their non-fiction exposure and the articles themselves are on key topics that are relatable to my students. This project would mean each student can read relevant articles in a non ficition format.
