Help me give my students a space that they can feel comfortable and secure in. As a new counselor I need to stock my office with supplies to help my students in all areas.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a new school counselor in a small charter school with amazing students. Our students are excited to learn new things and love having individualized attention. They come from all different backgrounds and have different living situations.
Our whole school works really hard to help keep students engaged and parents informed about what is going on at school.
I work with students that are struggling with different things or that might need a little extra attention individually, in small groups, as well as in classroom guidance lessons.
Many of these kids have not learned basic social skills or have challenges that make it harder for them to develop these relational skills. Also, many of them have not had a healthy example of how to cope with emotions, and need some help developing these skills and having someone work with them so they can be successful both in school and at home.
These students are resilient and incredible and deserve every opportunity to be successful in academics and life.
My Project
As a new counselor I need tools to help build rapport with students, create relationships and help build trust!
I am requesting resources for our counseling room.
Question cards and games are an excellent way to get to know your kiddos. Many of my students struggle with anxiety and need additional support in the classrooms, squishy's are helpful and non-disruptive to students and teachers. Calm down toys, kinetic sand and calm jars are a great way to help students that have impulse triggers to calm down and regulate. Motivational posters are great to have in classrooms and offices to help encourage students throughout the day.
Journals are great for students to get out their emotions, to have a space to express themselves by writing, drawing or coloring.
I love creating these relationships and encouraging these students that they can achieve great things, thank you so much for your support in helping it happen!
