This year, I will be teaching 23 fourth graders, some of whom are meeting for the first time. Our school is taking part in a unique school pairing model, and on our campus we will only have 3-5 graders. Some of the students will be new to me as well, and others are former students of mine. Regardless of if they are new to one another or not, I look forward to the classroom community that will be built and the learning that will take place.
My Project
With the school merger has come a building move for myself. My new classroom is half the size of my last one, with way less storage. From former projects we have several Rubbermaid tubs full of books that now need a place to go in our new classroom.
These cube storage shelves will fit perfectly under our wall of windows that we have, so we will still have plenty of natural light and a view outside, but all of our books will have a home.
The shelves will allow students to have easy access to high interest books instead of them being packed away in tubs.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
