My students learn best with hands on, creative lessons. They are learning new reading, writing and math skills. They enjoy the fun of learning while playing games with their friends. Reading center games and activities would only help them build strong reading foundations. In addition to reading, they are learning new math skills. They are excited about acquiring new math skills. A math center that incorporates visuals and manipulatives will give my students a better understanding and appreciation for a number of different math skills. We also need a place to store all of these fun new activities.
My students have many different learning disabilities and we have found they learn best through hands on and fun activities.
My students attend an off-site school that is low-income in Brooklyn. My students come from low-income households and have few resources. These students have to deal with so many hardships at such young ages, but my students have such a gleam in their eyes when they walk into school. They are ready and excited to learn. To maximize and facilitate their learning our classroom needs materials that allow them to use their minds to their fullest potential.
When I was in school I would have loved learning centers that intrigued me. Sitting at a desk during reading and math was something that I dreaded. My students need math and reading center games that motivate them to learn.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
