Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach a class of multicultural and multilingual children in a large school in Bronx, New York. I create a family environment with my students whom I engage in teaching through various methods. I encourage my students to work cohesively and learn from one another.
My students get excited when they tackle something new, and I love to watch them learn how to work together to discover new methods to solve different problems.
Since many of my students are learning English for the first time and many are new to the country, they all particularly enjoy and benefit from hands-on experiences. Each year, I am awestruck with how much my students grow academically, and socially, in such a short amount of time.
My Project
With the new social-distance policies and remote learning for my students this year I would like to provide them with stories that I can read to them to help them better understand the new experiences they are living through.
The children will be able to hear stories about diversity, social-emotional growth, social distancing, wearing a mask, being new to school and so much more!
These books will touch upon so many topics that are important to help them feel more comfortable with school this year.
These stories will also allow me to begin a library for Remote Learning so that I can read live to my students throughout the school year.
