This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The large majority of the students are ESL. We are a Title I school with a specific demographic. The library here is small and could definitely use additional resources to purchase more current fiction and non-fiction material for the students to read. We are low on several series, as well. I would love to give these children access to more books that they want to read. We need your help to give the kids what they need and deserve!!
My Project
What could our students want more than new books to read!? The children are back in the library after dealing with COVID and COVID restrictions. I cannot think of a better way to encourage their love for reading than to get them engaged again by offering them some new fun relatable stories. Imagine being in a home without books. Many of our students come from homes where they have limited access to reading books. Now, they can check out books again and bring them home! So, we need new books in the library!!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
