My students need to start off the school year with new and unique arts books to refresh the art library. My students are also in need of some needed library and material organizational tools.
As a teacher, I want my students to learn and appreciate art and its history. Art is a subject worth knowing. I want my students to come away from class with a better understanding of the many forms art can encompass, whether it be drawing, painting, found objects, printmaking, etc., as well as the many new, non-conventional ways of art making.
As a teacher, I want to challenge my students to become independent, objective thinkers.
I want them to be able to look at a piece of artwork and form their own opinions and critical analysis’ of the piece. My students visit the art room weekly for their chance to explore and experiment with many different forms of art and artistic expression.
The community of students that visit the art room have a strong desire and need for hands-on art learning. Art is a way of connectioning to all different ethnic and economic backgrounds. In my class, students should have that opportunity to express and learn about themselves and other students. Art can help them share and experience the world around them.
My Project
Imaginative students arrive in my Art room everyday ready to be creative and unique. My Art library is in need of new books to stimulate the creative mind of my young artist students. Artists use books as inspiration and ideas, these new books will broaden my students opportunity to explore their artists ideas. The books for my library are focused on elementary learning and art history and aesthetic exploration.
Keeping our art materials organized will also give my students the independence they strive for.
Organizational tools such as baskets, containers and trays will help give my students the confidence to find what they need. Having an organized space allows children the freedom to explore and move about the classroom with comfort and ownership.
