This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 25 enthusiastic students this school year. They are an inquisitive group of 7- and 8-year-olds with varied interests from technology to animals. They are always eager to learn new things. Our school is the heart of their neighborhood.
Some of my students come from challenging home environments.
When they come to school, I want them to have the freedom to be kids and learn new things that will benefit their future. From their experience at an early age, many of the students have learned how to be responsible problem solvers. They deserve to have an excellent education in the best environment possible.
My Project
My students are already rapidly growing as readers! I've noticed their love of reading become more abundant as they find relevant and engaging books. As my students grow as readers, their reading level increases. Some of my students are already in my chapter books as 2nd graders!
New chapter books will motivate my students to continue to expand their love of reading.
Our classroom library is very popular thanks to past donations of popular books. Our school library schedules us to come in every other week, so having a great range of books in the class that they can read at any time is a plus!
