How do I make the school year exciting each and every year? I find new, exciting, and engaging material. Students, especially those in the middle grades, know what school is about. They know what to expect and they have a pretty good idea what they will be doing. It is my goal to surprise them and find ways to keep them excited for our learning adventures.
My students are excited, creative and engaged in the learning process.
They are sweet, happy ten and eleven-year olds who have all had different experiences so far in school. Some come from two parent homes, some do not, however all come from homes where families are pushing for their success.
My Project
Last year I taught 3rd grade and some of the most loved books in our classroom library were the K-3 set of TOON books. My kids LOVED them. This year, I am teaching 5th and I am hoping to get the TOON book set for my older kids. These books are a lot of fun for kids to read. They honestly, enjoy them which is what everyone wants.
Getting a ten or eleven-year-old to be excited about reading for life can be as simple as finding that first great book.
These TOON books can be that book because they are not only colorful but also comics. These books will help my students become lifelong readers.
