My students are all 5 years old. They are creative thinkers, problem-solvers, dreamers, achievers. They are curious about learning, and they show incredible wonder about everyday experiences that we take for granted.
Our classroom is designed to show deep respect for children as individuals.
My students have their own ideas, concerns, questions, thoughts, dreams, beliefs, and more. Children at this age are learning about who they are as people, and how they as people fit into larger systems such as family, school, community and humanity. Each child comes from an individual family, with individual belief systems, customs, and values. My students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds, bringing their traditions, cultures, and values into our classroom, teaching all of us about themselves.
My students are teachers. I am constantly learning through them. They teach me about the names of a variety of bugs, the height of the tallest building in the world, and how the planets revolve around the sun due to gravity. They will continue to teach me even after they have left my classroom.
My Project
I am a brand-new Kindergarten teacher, and I am building the classroom library that my children deserve! My students deserve high-quality, beautiful children's books to help them develop their love of reading. I specially chose truly beautiful children's books, as in my classroom, I want to provide the students with a beautiful environment to encourage the children to care deeply for their environment.
Each of my students will be drawn to a wide variety of books, and they need a wide variety of books to choose from.
Right now in my classroom, I have a limited selection of high-quality children's books for the children to choose from, but with these new books, my children will be able to choose from a wide variety of books to find the one that draws them into a love of reading. If a love of reading is started in Kindergarten, it will carry with them throughout school and into life. I (and they) deeply appreciate your help in starting them off on their reading journey on the right foot, with high-quality children's books!
