it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
For the first time in a 5 year teaching career and 8 years of working in Kindergarten and Pre-K classrooms, I will be moving to the very new world of First Grade. This daunting change comes with one bit of fantastic news, which is that I will be looping with my Kindergarten students and working with them for another year of learning and growth. The biggest strength of this change is that I know my students going into the upcoming school year, and I know what they need.
I am seeking more decodable texts for my students, in alignment with the science of reading philosophy, to ensure that my classroom library is ready for my future first grade readers.
This will be my school's first year working with a curriculum aligned with the science of reading, and while we are so excited for this change, we are going into the year with very limited resources that align with this method of teaching reading. Your assistance in helping me start off the year with accessible texts for my diverse students learning to speak, read, and write in English would be greatly appreciated.
