My students are mostly students that failed science last year because let's face it, remote learning was hard! And remotely learning and teaching science was insane! And to add to all that chaos, last year was my first year teaching and this is my first year in a classroom, with mostly students that come from challenging backgrounds. But I love them!
My students are a fun group of students that basically cannot but their cell phones down so instead of fighting it, I want to use technology usage as a reward system.
My Project
Technology is everywhere and we all use it and multitask constantly with it. I would like to add stuff to my classroom to make learning from Chromebooks easier.
Help me give my computer mice for working on projects with instead of having to use a Chromebook trackpad, head phones to listen to music while taking independent notes, school supplies to make hands on projects artistic and fun, and a cool classroom pet!
Rather than policing cellphones and technology, I have my students work for 10 to 20 minutes then take a break and enjoy music or talking with friends. Just that few minutes of downtime helps them refocus to get the task they are working on done.
