My Students
I teach high school social studies at a low income, rural district in South Carolina. My position is unique as I will be teaching virtually in our district's new program reaching a multitude of students with many different needs. My students have opted out of face to face instruction for many reasons, one due to our rising number of COVID cases in our state. Currently, we have over 1,200 students enrolled in our virtual program. We are expecting our numbers to grow throughout the year. Our students will be learning from home while I will be teaching in a brick and mortar school.
The virtual program is designed to deliver dynamic and thoughtful instruction to student's homes while allowing interactive lessons to take place between myself and a small group of students at designated times.
I will teach two virtual classes: a class of seventy ninth graders, and twenty-three tenth graders. In addition to my virtual classes, I will have six Edgenuity classes (our online learning platform) averaging about thirty students each in grades nine through twelve.
My Project
I will use the Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards for resources to use with my digital curriculum items to supplement our day to day routines by adding interactive projects both individually and for our small group digital projects. Also, activities will be purchased for remediation and to strengthen important concepts as we move through chapters and units of our text.
My students and I are embarking on a new adventure in the world of virtual learning!
I want to make their learning experiences dynamic, engaging, exciting, but most of all FUN! With the help of these new digital resources our virtual classroom will be a success!
