"For student performance to approximate student potential, students need access to a constantly evolving array of technological tools and activities that demand problem-solving, decision-making, teamwork, and innovation." -Nancye Blair, educational technology specialist
Energetic, eager, inquisitive, and loving- these are just a few of words that best describe my students.
Our classroom is their safe place to laugh, explore, and learn. As a high-poverty school in a low-socioeconomic area, many of our students are not afforded basic necessities, much less the opportunity to utilize technology.
My Project
They love to visit our school computer lab and take turns on our interactive whiteboard. The portable electronic blackboards are the modern version of pencil and paper. My students would be able to use these tools for word building, dictation, math, and handwriting practice. Boogie Boards are more exciting than pencil and paper, and they won't run out of ink or dry out. These devices could save us time and money in school supplies while giving us the opportunity to become a more technologically advanced 21st century classroom.
In these technology driven era, these boards would be one way to give my students hands-on experience with devices.
Not only will the personal blackboards keep them actively engaged in lessons, but also provide a fun way to practice using hand-held technology while honing their academic skills.
