Needy Students Need School Supplies

Help me give my students notebooks for their interactive journals to collect and save notes for future use.

My Project

Using the different school supplies is a daily activity in my classroom for students in a Title 1 school in Central Florida. Using the workshop model in math, students come to the group with their notebooks for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The notebooks, coloring pencils, highlighters, and pencils allow me to see exactly what they are doing and provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. What becomes a problem is the fact that the markers never seem to last, and erasers seem to disappear from frequent use. When something goes awry, students know they must leave the group quietly to get a new marker, eraser, or the last choice, pencil, and paper. Even though they are great about doing this, it is distracting for many of my students who have focusing issues and miss important instruction from either myself or other students. Students can avoid these problems by having adequate material and focusing on increasing their learning!

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.

Students will be able to simply focus on the academic material at hand and not whether their materials are going to work or not.
