This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are grades Kindergarten through 5th grade and have recently been integrated back onto a traditional elementary campus. The students in this program all are diagnosed with an emotional disability. These students social and emotional learning have been impacted by so many changes within the past few years. Now, that we are starting from the beginning with a new program, we are needing many sensory support tools that differentiate between each student. A big and common sensory need is deep pressure, my students love the feeling of stress balls. I picked out a few stress balls that have all different types of resistance. With the velcro-carpet strips, I'll be able to help teach our students boundaries and for them to know they have a safe space to themselves. A system we have in place to encourage positive behavior, is our point system, with the point system students are able to use their points for snacks and to earn more time in our sensory space! I have asked the students what their favorite snacks are and they are listed below. And, I added the magna-tiles for a new addition for our sensory space.
