My students need movable collaborative desks instead of big bulky tables that impair movement around the learning cottage.

My Students
My students are very special. We are in a Title I community where resources are slim, but curiosity is high! I teach gifted students grade 3 through 5. They are a very hands-on, minds-on group of students.
"People who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones that do."
Being able to work collaboratively in my small space is hard. I have a learning cottage and tables tend to be bulky and take up space. My students need to be able to synergize, along with being able to work independently.
The culture is a very diverse population with a growing Hispanic population. Resources outside of school are slim and I feel it is my responsibility to feed their passion to learn while they are with me at school. If my students analyze their best learning style, I would like to be able to feed that with the best environment possible.
My Project
The tables in our classroom are outdated. They show many signs of wear, such as chipped surfaces, missing screws, broken knobs, and are not sturdy. The tables are bulky, which make it difficult to form collaborative groups within the classroom in my learning cottage. The movable collaborative desks are updated for 21st Century learning. They feature a unique shape that will better hold the attention of student and teacher alike as many different collaborative pods are formed. Students can easily form collaborative groups of any size. The collaborative desks are available with castor wheels. This will allow for greater mobility in the classroom. Ultimately, this will expand the options for collaboration for all students. Students will be able to move desks and chairs at moment’s notice to meet the needs of a collaborative lesson. Desks and chairs are independent of each other, allowing for better movement throughout the classroom.
