Moving into the 21st century with technology. It is important now more than ever to expose out students to different kinds of technology. Throughout the day the students work independently and with partners. Tablets would be a great way to get them excited about learning.
I teach at a Title I school where 93% of the students are on free or reduced lunch.
Many of my students do not have access to computers or Internet in their houses. I have many students that are below grade level. The use of tablets in the classroom are a perfect tool to use with my students (those below and above grade level) to work on specific reading and math skills.
My Project
By integrating the three tablets into our classroom instruction I can get the students excited about learning. Many of my students don't have access to a computer or the Internet in their houses. I have one iPad in the classroom that is used for assessing the students. I let the students take turns using it when I am not using it to assess. They get so excited about using the computer to work on math or reading.
In fourth grade we also do more partner and small group work. This would allow us to have tablets to use for our research and when working on their projects.
They would use the tablets individually or with a partner during our math and reading rotations.
It will allow me to diversify the instruction in my classroom. My students are divided into groups. Each group has links they can go to for the week. The links take them to a video of the lesson they are working on that week as well as websites they can go to reinforce the standard for the week
By purchasing the tablets for our classroom you can make a huge impact on the lives of my students.
They live in a world where they are constantly surrounded by technology. It is a very important part of their lives. These tablets would be a wonderful resource for the students in my classroom. They will also help me diversify my lessons to meet my students' individual needs.
