This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Do you remember walking to school in the middle of winter without a hat, gloves or scarf? Do you remember coming to school with socks that were soaking wet from the rain and snow? Well last winter, many of my students came to school without the life essentials needed to keep them warm and healthy.
My school is a Title I School in a high poverty area.
I teach 13 wonderful students in a self contained classroom. They face various disabilities on a daily basis and try hard to face the curriculum on their level. Since I loop with them, I have some of these students for more than 2 years in a row. I have seen them brave the cold winter without these necessities.
My Project
The requested hats, scarves, and gloves will enable my students to keep warm and stay healthy throughout the winter. They will be able to keep warm and stay healthy improving their attendance and academic achievement. Having socks, means they will be able to take their own off to dry while keeping their feet warm in the classroom. Having extra snacks in class in the winter is important because if they leave their snack at home, I'll have extra snacks to provide them throughout the day,
Please help keep my little friends warm, healthy and happy with a little snack this winter season.
The attendance of my students will improve over the winter and I will be able to help them improve their reading, writing and math levels.
