"Got math games?" After 14 years in first and second grade I am moving to fourth grade next school year. Throughout the years I have obtained math games for my first and second graders. Now that I am moving to fourth grade I need games for my older students.
I teach at a Title One School where 93 percent of the students are on free or reduced lunch.
I have always taught math through the use of hands on math games. However, now that I will be teaching fourth I do not have the math games needed to teach a higher grade.
My Project
One of my favorite times of the day is our math block. I love introducing new concept to my students. Afterwards they are able to go back and either work with a partner or work independently on that skill. In order to do this they need math games that help reinforce what we have been teaching. I recently went to the Math Daily Three training. During the math block students rotate to math to someone, math to myself and math in writing. After finding out that I would be moving to fourth grade next year I realized that I would need to get games for a higher grade. My games from the last fourteen years will not work with my new older students.
All my kids love math centers and small group math time.
It is time for them to take what they have learned in math and practice it with a partner or independently. By purchasing these fourth grade math games you will be helping my new students be able to enjoy math time as well.
