NEEDED: Erasable Markers for Dry Erase Boards & Erasers
My students need erasable markers and pencil erasers.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. David's classroom raised $215
This project is fully funded
I teach 4th grade at a Title I school in Louisiana. I have wonderful students in my class who love to learn. My school is very dynamic, and all of our 4th grade teachers work together to make one-on-one and tactile learning possible for our students.
Despite some personal hardships, the parents of my students are cooperative, supportive and desire that their children receive the best education possible. Many have basic necessity needs, as our community was drastically impacted by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and my school opened its arms to the students and their parents.
My class is in desperate need of erasable markers. Erasable boards have long been used to improve comprehension in all subjects and increase student interest in learning. We received erasable boards and markers from our fabulous donors, Mr. and Mrs. Z. We have utilized them so frequently that we are running out of markers.
In 4th grade, we begin the year reviewing multiplication and division facts. By using the erasable boards, the students increase their memorization skills by writing and rewriting their facts. This makes learning them less them cumbersome and lots of fun. Every child loves to use erasable boards and markers. We use these for working problems in class. They love to see how fast they can work the problems so I have made a game for them using the boards and problems. I also let the children use them for spelling words, vocabulary, the sky's the limit! They are so useful and the students take excellent care of them. We use them for all subjects and when I tell the students to take out their boards and markers and all shout with excitement! Unfortunately, I am running out of markers for them! I am also requesting pencil erasers because we need those also.
My children love school and they love learning, it makes teaching them a privilege instead of a job. I buy all of our Kleenex, paper towels, writing journals, and folders. I also buy baby wipes for the children to wipe their faces after P.E. and recess to refresh them.
My students have dreams of college and understand that an education is their way to success. I have tried to build relationships with my parents so they know that I will mentor the children throughout their lives, not just in 4th grade. I love my students and it is important to me that they succeed not only in 4th grade, but in life.
In the last 3 years I have spent over $3000 of my own money buying uniforms, shoes, eyeglasses, and other things that my students need. I try to care for each child as I would my own children. This grant would go far in helping the children learn. I will gladly do whatever is necessary to comply with any and all terms associated with this grant and I thank you sincerely for your kind consideration of my request.
