Needed: 21st Century Technology in South Atlanta Music Classroom
Help me give my students these audio interface materials, allowing them to be exposed to necessary 21st-century skills in the workplace (i.e., technology, coding, engineering) by creating music in Middle School using Garageband.

My Project
I teach 150 hard-working and bright orchestra students just south of Atlanta, but they have never created music on an iPad with Garageband. In my dream STEM classroom I would still teach orchestra because students in any music technology field will greatly benefit from the practical experience of performing in a live musical group with a real instrument; however, my students will require an iPad (we currently own none).
My students will use the Boxlight Projector already in my classroom to share their projects with their peers.
They would share presentations created in Canva using the Learning Management System Canvas (CCPS already provides both of these). The students' Garageband project would require a single Apple iPad, the Garageband App (free for IOS devices) and the Garageband Community, an online resource where students can read and accept consequence-free feedback from other, possibly more experienced, Garageband users. Students would also use the free website YouTube.com to feel inspired with music-creating ideas.
In order to record professional-sounding lyrics with my students’ musical creations, they would require an iRig Pro I/O to interface between an iPad and a standard XLR microphone. The Digiflex XLR Cable would connect the iRig Pro I/O to the microphone, and the Shure SM58 Microphone is a standard microphone which works best with an iPad and iRig Pro I/O. These materials would allow my students to at least take turns recording real instruments or lyrics professionally into Garageband to create high-quality work.
