My Students
I work in West Philadelphia where the families have very limited resources to help support their children's literacy needs. Recently, I had the chance to revitalize the school library. For years, this space has not been used, and our students have been thrilled to experience a transformed space for learning, listening, and reading.
Students at our school come to class without pencils, paper, and folders, and many times arrive without having eaten breakfast.
We are a K-8 school with approximately 800 students.
The students I teach are excited to learn and happy to be a part of our school community. However, materials and supplies are almost non-existent and need to be purchased by the teachers. Students here love to read and need all the support they can get.
My Project
After being home for months, we are headed back to the classroom for learning. We are so excited but are in need of a few things. My students and I are going to a new classroom that will need classroom borders for the bulletin boards and even desk tags for the tabletops.
I’m hoping to make the room look super bright and cheerful for the kids and can’t wait to get started with your help and support.
