Can you imagine how overwhelmed a 5 year feels when they walk into a kindergarten classroom not having any school experience before. My kids need resources for them to focus on specific elements of learning that are exciting and engaging.
Most of these kids are entering the school setting for the first time.
Our school is almost 80 percent free and reduced lunch. My class is very diverse with many kids who are just learning the English language when they are at school. They are excited to learn but overwhelmed at the same time. There is a lot to learn when entering Kindergarten. They are very hard working and seem to love school so far.
My Project
These resources will be so great for my kids because I will really be able to show them the sight words in our big books with the highlighter tape. When the students go back to read on their own, these words will be easily identified. The magnets are always an exciting way to recognize letters and even trace with fingers to help with the formation. The stapler, although expensive will be so nice with all the reproducible books that we make in Kindergarten. Instead of having to fold the books to staple, this stapler will allow for easy stapling. We really work on beginning and ending sounds in Kindergarten these learning centers will allow for the kids to practice independently in addition to our phonics work. All of these resources will be an amazing addition to my classroom to help these kids become successful.
Please donate to my project, "Need to Read" these kids need to learn a lot of basic skills before they will be able to read.
These resources will enhance my students learning and last for years to come. School is most likely the only time that they are going to get a chance to work with supplies like these. Mahalo Nui Loa.
