This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A group of students are getting the chance to improve reading skills through a reading intervention program that has just been acquired for them. We have everything we need except one of the most important materials, the Chromebooks! They are so excited at the possibility!

These sixth grade middle school students are excited to know their school, that serves a large urban population, has acquired a wonderful age appropriate program that will actually help them improve their word recognition and comprehension skills, so that they can gain the success they need to be proficient readers.

My Project

Shortly after the class starts, students are split into three rotating groups. One of the groups has been using the word recognition and decoding software for a set amount of time. By the end of the class, all of the students will have used the software program. These activities will help them build and strengthen their foundational reading skills.

If the class does not receive these donations, they will not be able to have the opportunity to be fulfilled with the benefits of what the program has to offer.

Having the Chromebooks will be the actual hardware required to perform the mandated software. Not only is the software component required for the program, but it is a researched based program proven to improve students' overall reading skills.
