My Students
This school year, I will teach middle school science with a new curriculum. My students are in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade at a school with 100% poverty. The majority of my students are from single-parent homes and have emotional and educational needs. Each day, my students encounter outside stressors that inhibit their education.
My goal is to create a classroom that integrates their interests with the curriculum so that they are motivated to keep up with their suburban peers.
My Project
My students need a speaker and a Knex engineering set to become more engaged in the engineering process.
In order to hear their digital lessons and virtual labs in a small group setting, my students need a small speaker to use with the classroom's iPads.
Because we only have a few iPads, the volume must be loud enough for a group of students to hear.
Furthermore, my students LOVE to build. My goal is to encourage this by allowing them to create different Knex engineering projects. Not only will they be able to build like an engineer, but they will also use the engineering cycle and scientific method to create experiments.
