I teach Science, Social Studies and Writing to three blocks of urban children. Many of my students are new to learning English. This year, these 80 fourth, fifth and sixth graders are ready to "show what they know" and work diligently on their lessons. They are definitely eager!
Providing supplies for students is always an issue in an urban environment. Managing to stock up on journals, folders, crayons and pencils during the summer sales, I somehow find that purchasing highlighters is at the end of the list.
I would like to acquire yellow highlighters so that everyone in class has one (plus a spare) to use while organizing and perfecting writing skills, searching for key words in reading selections and marking important information in questions.
My fingers are crossed that as you read this, you will picture us with our eyebrows raised, cheeks rosy and a PLEASE on our lips. You certainly would be our angel! Thank you for considering funding this proposal.
