The selected items will be used almost every day to help work on speed and agility. One important part of my PE program is to teach and correct running form.
This equipment will help set up drills and mechanics in class and will help these students to find something they can enjoy.
Throughout my time teaching PE I have learned that helping set these students up for success in middle school sports and even high school sports later starts with speed. As I also have the opportunity of coaching these students, this allows these students to know the skills and drills to be leaders in sports practice and games as we prepare to play an opponent.
Through my current research, I have found a program called Feed The Cats by Tony Holler which explains how to build speed and the reasons why speed is so important. “Speed is the bucket that fills all buckets.” In this quote Holler explains how speed improves sprint capacity, strength, sport skills, acceleration, and agility. This is the idea that I have adopted to implement in my PE program, and with the right equipment we can make this happen.
