I am a 5th grade classroom teacher of 30 students. It is quite cramped, yet we need a rug so I can teach on a regular basis. I am not a Title 1 school, so we receive nothing. All classroom supplies are bought with our own money. I cannot afford to keep doing this and my students deserve a clean and safe rug to sit and learn on.
I love the rug I chose as well because we are going to be learning a unit on the Rainforest, so a world map right under them will encourage them to learn more. If my class receives this rug, they will feel comfortable and more willing to come to the rug and concentrate on my teaching and not what is lying on the dirty rug beneath them. It is vital for my students to learn in a clean and safe environment.
I have also requested a book cart. Our space is limited with so many students. My students need a safe and organized place to put books and have them set up in an area they can find them easily. Right now they are all over the place. I will ensure you that my students will utilize this resource to its fullest potential and be able to find and read more books at greater ease.
You will make it possible for all my students to enjoy sitting at a rug and wanting to learn in a clean, safe environment. That is what is most important for my students and all students.
