My Students
I am a first year teacher and I am excited and nervous at the same time. My goal is to be able to reach and teach as many as possible through a nurturing, caring and loving environment. I would like my students reading at or above grade level by the end of the year.
My school is a Title I school serving students in a rural community.
I will have a diverse group of students with differing personalities, abilities and learning styles. I plan on differing instruction to accommodate the different learning styles in the classroom.
My Project
I will use this rug for the students to sit on for large group instructional time. During this time, reading and literacy development will be introduced and reinforced. Students will also be able to sit during small group center time to enjoy the comfort of the rug over the tile flooring.
Using the rug as a visual aid, students will be able to see the letters, recognize the letters, produce the sound that letter makes and build vocabulary just by having this addition to the classroom.
This project will make a difference in the lives of the students I plan on impacting by producing and reinforcing literacy skills needed for reading fluency.
