Necessities & Supplies Promote Successful Students

Help me give my students pencils, paper, notebooks, folders, binders, activity/flash cards and other assorted materials to fill their classroom with supplies so they can be successful.

My Students

My students are always excited and eager to learn new things. Our classroom consists of a diverse group of students with varying disabilities including ADHD, specific learning disabilities, behavior difficulties and cognitive delays. Most students don’t have access to technology at home, so a lot of them are only exposed to technology when they’re in school. I have an inquisitive group of students, who are always eager to work with technology.

They attend a Title I school where they all qualify for free breakfast and lunch.

The majority of them come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

My students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

My Project

My students often come to school without the proper tools to learn. They come from homes where parents are unable to provide the necessities for school. As their teacher, I take it upon myself to provide basic school supplies such as the pencils, markers, notebooks, binders, scissors, folders, flash/activity cards, and magnetic letters I'm requesting to increase reading fluency. My students use supplies every day to help them with their school work. These materials will help my students reach their potential with the literacy curriculum.

Instead of letting my classroom become a place where students are reminded of what they do not have, I want to provide them with an environment that is nourishing, supportive and has the supplies needed to be a successful student.

Funding this project will ensure that my students have the necessary materials so they can be successful in the classroom. Knowing that they have their own supplies will give them a since of ownership. This will also boost my student’s self esteem. No child will feel left out.
