This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." by Dr. Seuss. This quote sums up the goal I have for my students. I have 25 amazing first graders who live in a low-income, high poverty area where they face many challenges in their daily lives, but they love school!

My goal is to instill in each child a love of learning and the belief that they can do anything!

With our school year beginning with virtual learning, my students have to deal with the many challenges of distance learning. Many of my students lack the necessary technology they need to be able to participate fully while trying to learn from home. They miss school and the stability it provides them. My desire is to provide them all I can during this difficult time so that they can still feel loved and cared for.

My Project

While my students may be at home, teaching and learning is still going on full force. My students have been eagerly learning from home and are in need of some supplies. They are fortunate to have materials for learning at home kits which were donated by generous sponsors however, some of those supplies are drying out and in need of replenishing. They have been so busy writing and are running out of paper and their dry erase markers and erasers are starting to dry out. My students could also use headphones so that they could focus on what is being taught virtually without the distractions from things going on in their home.

It is my goal to keep them excited about school and motivated to learn even while they're away from the school building.

These materials will enable my students to continue to learn and thrive during remote learning.
