Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are an urban K-8 school, from various ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. This is a low to middle-class neighborhood. We are full of students who have boundless energy and a great desire to learn.
Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus, we have been faced with a difficult blended learning situation that is a struggle for many of my students.
My Project
When our school shut down last year due to the Coronavirus, I noticed that my students were struggling with remote learning. They missed the interactions with their classmates and the ability to show their work to one another.
I started using Nearpod—an interactive slide show tool that engages students and promotes collaboration—in our lessons and my students immediately fell in love!
They became super engaged in each lesson—excited to show their work to their classmates, collaborate with one another, and answer interactive questions.
With a platinum membership, I will be able to continue using Nearpod to make learning fun for my students. With this access, my students will be able to interact with the lessons whether they are at home learning remotely, or in the classroom on in-person days. It will give them the opportunity to collaborate with their classmates, whether they are six feet or six blocks apart.
