This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Every day, students start with outside exploration. They are energetic and curious about the things that they see outside. I would like to expand their curiosity to learning about different animal life cycles. The challenge to getting them there is their communication.
At our preschool program we have half day groups (am and pm) that range from 10 to 12 kids per class.
Their age range is 3-5 years old and about 90% are children with special needs. Their needs range from communication to developmental delays and/or physical delays. They are energetic and enthusiastic young children that are hungry for new experiences.
My Project
The preschool students will be able to use an egg incubator as the primary resource of a chicks life cycle experience. They will observe from day 1 until the day that the chick hatch. Students will be able to draw pictures and complete activities related to the observations in the process. This will also be considered as part of their science project in the spring.
This donation will make a huge improvement in the classroom because it will make it possible for the students to have the experience first hand and be able to participate in the districts spring science fair.
This experience will change the students lives for the better because many of them don't have the opportunity to have experience with animals.
