My Project

Children who learn how to read in their native language are more likely to stay and succeed in school.

Research has shown that children acquire literacy skills more quickly and effectively if taught in their native language.

Many researchers have also proven that the literacy and comprehension skills a child learns in their mother tongue are 100% transferable to any other language they learn later.

Reading with meaning is the gateway to all learning. So, to give children the best start to their education, they must learn how to read and write using meanings in their native language. Developing English as an additional language will happen more quickly if the child has their mother tongue literacy skills. Offering students books in their native language to read while at school supports the idea that reading with meaning in their native language will support their reading and comprehension in English.
