Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am in my 2nd year of teaching 4th grade, and I am most excited about teaching National Parks. Our students get a free National Parks Pass to use for an entire year; this gives them the opportunity to explore all 63 parks with their families, and I want to motivate them to get out and start exploring! I have also noticed a decline in mental health within the classroom. Teaching students about the value of outdoor exploration and physical fitness will improve their mental health immensely!

March is National Parks months, and I would love to enhance my lessons to get the students extra interested in this topic.

I want literature to help inform them about our parks.

Having the books with the National Parks twist will give them something to connect with the new topic. Being close to the Grand Canyon, which many have visited, will lock in how precious these lands are as they learn about the other national parks through books, coloring pages, and interactive trivia games. Having a sticker with their favorite national park will seal the deal for them to want to learn more.
