Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The National Geographic Readers would be a tremendous help in our lesson planning as a tool for children to see real pictures and exposure to information that they can use later in life.

Many of our children come from low-income families and never have opportunities to travel or even leave their immediate community.

Some children are exposed to tablets and are used to seeing current trending cartoons and animated programs.

Some children only have exposure to real photos in the books we have at school. Although we do have a variety of books, we have little of the National Geographic Readers which contain so many real photos and information that children would really benefit from learning about exotic animals around the world, flowers that they see all around them but do not know anything about them. There are books about reptiles or tall buildings around the world.

That is why this project I chose to have a variety of different National Geographic Readers for the children to select from that would pique their interest.

These books are great for opened questions, the children would use their imagination and maybe start an interest to seeing those things in person one day!
