My Project
I am requesting a variety of National Geographic books. My students love these books and over time, the copies I have in class have gotten worn and torn. I am replacing a few titles, and I am adding a few new ones.
One thing I love about National Geographic is the vocabulary that is introduced because the books are so engaging, my students learn new words quickly.
National Geographic books are informational books, a genre that is difficult for students to comprehend. I plan to have students read these books weekly. They will then take an Accelerated Reader comprehension and vocabulary test. Students who struggle passing the tests will then work with me as I guide them on how to use informational text to locate the answers. This should help them with their state testing at the end of the year.
