I am a 7-grade science teacher at racially and socioeconomically diverse school in North Carolina. My primary goal as a middle school science teacher is to ignite my students curiosity about science and to prepare them for the rigor of high school science courses.
One struggle I have had in my class is finding a way to engage my students in reporting their experimental results. They are always eager to complete our lab experiments and can easily explain the science concepts we study, but they are much less excited about reporting their results in writing.
Students love to hear their own voices. Allowing my students to narrate their findings and record their verbal explanations of their results will engage my students - particularly those who struggle with writing. Also, they will be able to incorporate their narration in multimedia projects of our research (for example, public service announcements about weather hazards or environmental issues, and narrated videos or slideshows about our experiments).
Your donation will purchase these headsets with microphones which will get frequent use in my classroom. Please help me inspire our future scientists!
