My Students
If you entered my classroom you might be confused at first by what you see. There are dozens of students running every direction working on a thousand different things. This is the benefit of technical theater. Each student gets to work on something that gives them passion and pride.
The theater is a place where anything can happen and imagination can run free.
Our Tech Theater class is that place for imagination. The students in my technical theater class are a wide range of individuals. Some have always been in theater and know every show; others have never seen a show in their entire life. Either way, all are responsible for the creative completion of the school sets for any production in the auditorium. My students usually come into the class with limited to no knowledge of how the theater works and or how to build a set. But by the end, they have completed a work of art worthy of a professional stage.
My Project
I am requesting one one PORTER-CABLE Tool Combo Kit. A brad nailer and compressor kit is a tool that allows students to mechanically insert nails into their projects. Prior to this project each nail was done by hand taking precious hours away from projects. This nailer will allow for students to take those valuable hours and put them into creativity and embellishments of their projects. Every piece of plywood, trim, and accent can be added with speed and precision.
You will also be providing students with the ability to learn a new tool and how to safely operate and maintain the equipment. The goal for the Technical Theater classroom is to build a quality prop shop that has all the tools needed so a student can build whatever they can dream of. This nailer is another step closer to building a space that meets that goal.
This PORTER-CABLE Tool Combo Kit will bring the technical theater program one step closer to accomplishing its dream of building a Prop Shop.
It will be a space where all students will have the freedom to dream big and create even bigger, and that brings ideas to life and demonstrates to the community that the arts matter.
