This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
What are you best at? We are all different and have different strengths. We all learn differently and master skills and concept in different ways.
Center time is a time for each student to thrive and develop skills through different modalities.
While my little TK and Kindergarteners go to each center during independent work time or RTI time they can explore the same concept in different ways. While learning about the letter M, they can use play dough to create the letter or make things that start with that sound or use the tubs to spell words with that sound.
My Project
Each week we can change the centers to ensure that all children's modalities are strengthened. Every child can benefit from using different objects to learn. Making learning fun is the best way to enhance understanding. I try to make our centers fun already with creating cutting and pasting activities for my TK and Kinders but having these supplies would really excite them.
The Mystery Box can be used in a small group to play games like "Guess the Sound", the ABC center can be used to review print practice and the poem of the week, the sound tubs can be used for direct instruction and as reinforcement during center time and the ABC file folder would be an excellent way to teach children the letter names and sounds while working in teams.
Please help my little ones explore basic concepts and skills with various center time activities.
Best of all, these materials can be used again and again year after year. For years to come TK students and kindergarteners will be able to use them.
