Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a low-income area that has a great community with lots of support. They work hard for themselves and for their families. Many live in situations where they are in one home with over four families living together, yet they come to school every day ready to learn and grow.

Our school does as much as it can to help and assist the families of our students and we strive to make a better future for them to live in.

My Project

My students have really been enjoying reading manga.

Many of my students who didn't enjoy reading have been picking up manga and even requesting to take it home!

They have inspired my students to enjoy reading. The manga is also acting as a gateway to even more engaging non-comic book reading. Many of the students that started reading manga have now moved on to chapter books!

It is opening the door to a love of reading for many of my students. They specifically requested the Naruto manga and have been asking everyday if there is a way for us to get them. Please consider helping my students reach this dream.
