My Students
I teach Kindergarten and First grade students English in Champaign, Il. I have a very diverse group of kiddos who range from no English at all to working toward English proficiency. My students come from many different countries around the world including but not limited to China, Russia, India, Switzerland, Ecuador, and Morocco. These students are eager to learn and love coming to my class to learn about the English language. Many of my students have a difficult time sitting still to work on writing and these wobble seats will give them the ability to safely move while still engaging in their writing activities.
My Project
My students like to move even while sitting at a table learning to write in English. These wobble seats will provide them with a safe way to move so they can focus on their writing. Often the children have difficulty being still at a table so they can practice writing. These seats are designed to let the student move while still in a seated position which is needed to learn how to write correctly. The movement helps the students to be more engaged in the lesson because their body isn’t focused on trying to satisfy the need for movement. My hope is these chairs will increase engagement and in turn increase achievement.
