This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning we have a speech therapy session in the classroom with lingual and labial range of motion and strengthening exercises through the iPad. We also work on different vocabulary words, vocabulary with signs and gestures to communicate basic wants and needs.

I am working at a special education center High school, and most of my students have severe speech and language Impairment.

I need an iPad so that I can download some of the Speech Apps to enhance basic wants and needs. Most of my students are unable to communicate due to Autism, Intellectual Disability, Orthopedic Impairment, Multiple disabilities (Cerebral Palsy) and wheel chair bound students. With the help of an iPad I can download some of the speech apps and enhance speech and language skills in the classroom and or speech room. My school has special education centers that have a middle school and high school population.

My Project

My students are diagnosed with speech and language impairments and are unable to express their basic wants and needs. With the iPad, I could download some of my Speech apps and I could give them visual and auditory feedback. With the feedback my students will learn to communicate basic wants and needs. I feel that without the iPad, it would hamper the students'abilities to communicate their basic wants and needs.

With the iPad my students will improve and will be able to communicate wants and needs.

Those with nonverbal skills would be able to learn to sign by watching and signing it back to the teacher. Student having articulation difficulty, and whose speech sounds are affected, will benefit through visual and auditory feedback. Students with receptive and expressive language impairment will benefit from an iPad and will be able to communicate wants and needs.
