This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school population is 94% Hispanic and 96% free and reduced lunch. Our students are great kids who come from a number of difficult backgrounds. Our students are eager to learn and come to school every day with a great attitude towards learning. Many of our students enjoy the opportunity to learn at our school because this is their safe place. For many of our students, our school provides them with a sense of normalcy that they may not have in their lives outside of school.

My Project

Our hockey equipment is out dated and difficult to use for my students. This new equipment will give students the chance to be more successful during this unit. Each year my students have a two week unit on hockey. My students absolutely love playing hockey and new equipment will help their enthusiasm for the sport grow.

The new equipment will allow the students to learn better.

Our equipment now is old and worn out, many of our hockey sticks have very little blade left on them. This makes it harder for students to learn and be successful with learning the game of hockey.
